How often should I get a sports massage?




Chronic Pain* or Fibromyalgia:

Eg joint pain, back pain or inflammation. You would benefit from weekly or twice weekly deep tissue massage initially, reducing down gradually to monthly or enough to manage the pain. If you have been in pain a long time, it may take several sessions and a program to reduce your symptoms. *Chronic pain= more than 3months.


Healthy athletes:

It is recommended that healthy full-time athletes get a massage once a week,


Stress relief:

For stress relief 30-60mins once or twice a month is ideal, more often for higher levels of stress.


Acute Pain:

For resolving issues like sore shoulders, tennis elbow, stiff neck and tight leg muscles, once or twice a month is recommended.



If you are not a sports person and/OR are someone trying to prevent injury then once a month is enough.
