Moving to a new area gives you scope to try out new clubs & even new sports.

Just being in new surroundings for netwalking or exercising (run, bike, walk, swim, paddle) can be inspirational. We find that geocashing encourages you to explore new parts of a familiar area. It's so exciting.

Since moving to Norfolk 6 months ago we have joined the table tennis club (which hadn't done since teens & found we found we love). I've fallen back on familiar activities, running with 3 local running clubs and several cycle groups. Its nice for the established members (who are always so welcoming) to show you routes in your new home town and surrounds. For years I was encouraged to swim with Abingdon Tri-Athlon group in Oxfordshire, I somehow never got round to it. For some reason in a new area the thriathlon group seemed like the right time, so I've joined Tri-Anglia and absolutely found my people (plus their swim training sessions are brutally brilliant).

In each club we have met new and fun people who enlighten us to more places we can try. We have been shown new routes to explore and told about other activities to join. It really does open up to more and more exciting adventures, some outside your usual type of activity & sport.

Whilst in Norfolk I've cycled with several local groups and started a third closer to home. I've participated in sportives in Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire. Using the bike to both exercise and explore the local area. There are so many trails in the UK that used to be railway lines and invite you to explore places you can't see from the road.

My advice: get inspired, jump into a new group or adventure near you. You never know, you could find your people!
